Teacher's Gifts

Now that the school year is over, I can finally share what I made as part of the kids' presents to their teachers.

For my daughter's teacher, I made an "L" card to represent her last name. My daughter chose the color of the card while I doodled the rest and cleaned it up in photoshop.

The same was done for my son's teacher, except that it was a "K" for her last name.

Sadly, my son's teacher is moving states right after school is done. So as part of a group gift from several parents I made a set of sun cards to reminder her of our sunny city. It's really small, but within the swirl of the sun her first name is written over and over again. This was also started as a doodle with pen and paper and then finished in photoshop.

I'm hoping they liked it as much as I loved making them. Additional little goodies were added as gifts, but I always love including something handmade.

Travel Journals / Books

I've been on a bit of a kick lately making mini books! My first sets were a couple of travel journals/books. I had so much fun that I think this is just the beginning! Here is how the first two came out:

More are in the process of being made or just need to be photographed. They are perfect for slipping extra papers, mementos, or even photos. Write or even art journal on them. This is just a stepping block.

They will most likely be in my next shop update (if I can get myself to let go of them), details soon on that one.

Thanks for looking!

Finally!

I've been wanting to take time to make cards, but I seemed to be putting it off to do other things. I finally got out of my rut and made a couple of cards the other day.

A lot of this stuff is made by a company that no longer exists. In fact, most of the stuff I have on hand is that way - so supplies won't be listed.

I was feeling like it was something I needed to do but still didn't bother to do it. What a relief to finally get some done!

Thanks for looking!

When Life Gives You Lemons . . .

cReaTe! Lately I've been at a standstill. I want -- no, I NEED -- to create! Life has been busy and "me" time has been pretty much been null and void. When I finally have a chance to myself, I just want to veg. But the need to create has been nagging at me, to make something -- anything.

I've been walking up to my craft area, feeling overwhelmed with my choice of materials and it's dis/organization, then promptly walking away. The other day, "the need" made me grab the smallest most convenient thing that was sitting around - a small 3" x 3" pack of chiyogami paper. Which turned into this:

First I made the butterfly and each day I've been adding to my collection of tiny origami. You can't believe how much better I feel. Thankfully that one small move has some got some ideas flowing . . . so let's get moving and cReaTe!

Playing Catch-Up

I'm in the middle of playing catch-up with some things I've been wanting to get done. Part of that list is putting things into my new shop over at Artfire. Here's a quick mosiac of some of the items that were recently added.

Another thing on my list is catching-up on the questions for 52Q, hosted by Emily Falconbridge. If you're interested in joining in, she lists a new question every week to ponder over and journal about. Hoping to finish up and share mine later this week.

In other news, Chrysti has started her 29+ Days of Giving back up. Great new giveaways have been already been posted! Check it out when you have a chance.

Off to do more catching-up! Have a good one!
