The end of this month marks the end of Daisy Yellow's Index-Card-A-Day challenge. I chose to personally end the challenge at the end of July. Below are the last four cards I worked on.
the start
When I first started this challenge, it started out difficult because I wasn't even sure what I wanted to do on the cards. Each day got a little easier as I started to just go with it. Pretty soon I was just going with the flow and enjoying each day. Whenever I would hit a bump, I would ask my kids for an idea or reach for my favorite book, Drawing Lab by Carla Sonheim, for inspiration. I felt like I was on a creative high working on something different.
towards the end
As I was getting closer to the end of the challenge it was starting to feel increasingly difficult to get started on each card. At lot of these drawings would unintentionally take hours to complete - not straight through, just a few minutes here and there between other things that needed taking care of. Although I could have made them more simple, it just feel didn't right as I was creating them to not put my all into it. The problem with that was that it didn't really leave me time to work on other creative projects. So as I daydreamed about working on other things, I started to resent the challenge taking so much time. I was also starting to feel like I was running out of ideas. Honestly, I just needed a change. This was a three month challenge and two months was already too long for me.
conclusion
This was an excellent challenge that got my creative juices flowing by getting me thinking and working differently. Unfortunately, this challenge was way too long for me and left me feeling drained in the end - relieved to finally call it off for myself at the end of July. I've decided that this is something I would like to challenge myself to do once or twice a year for about a month. I will share on this blog when I decide to take up the challenge again.
Thanks for stopping by and supporting me through this challenge! I really appreciate all of the kind comments!

Index-Card-A-Day {ICAD} #52 - 54
I have to admit that it is getting harder to do this every day as we closer to the end of the Index-Card-A-Day challenge. As much as I love this challenge, I do think that it's a little long. Even if this challenge doesn't come up again, I may end up doing it myself for a shorter period of time. Oh well, five more weeks to go!

Index-Card-A-Day {ICAD} #30 - 33
The kids spent time with the grandparents over the weekend. I could have used it as another excuse to pass on my index cards (it was so tempting). Instead, I decided to just get moving again and pushed myself to work on one.
Day 30 (Fri. - July 1)
Day 31 (Sat.- July 2) - The next day, I still wasn't feeling it but I decided to push myself again. In an attempt to see if doing more would get me in the mood again (and to rid myself of some guilt for taking free days), I decided to do an extra card.
Day 32 (Sun. - July 3) - On day 32, I was finally getting to the spot where I was in the groove of working on index cards. I decided to get rid of the guilt of taking extra free days and go with the groove by adding one more index card.
Day 33 (Mon. - July 4)
Next index card update, everyone will be getting back on track!

Index-Card-A-Day {ICAD} #28 & 29
I knew this would happen! On Wednesday, I did not want to work on my index card. I decided to finally give myself a free day for the week. The problem was the next day, I REALLY did not want to work on my index card. I gave myself the excuse that, until yesterday, I haven't taken any free days since the beginning of Index-Card-A-Day. Bad, I know. . .
So for days 28 and 29, I only have my kids' index cards to show. The top of each day is my daughter's (6) card and the bottom is my son's (8) card.

Index-Card-A-Day {ICAD} #22 - 25
More index cards! I'm finding myself stumped at times, trying to figure out what to draw next. But I love that I'm pushing myself to just draw no matter what. My kids seem to be able to just go with it though!
Unless otherwise mentioned in each picture, the top one was done by me, the middle was done by my daughter (6), the bottom was done by my son (8).
Day 22 (Thurs. - June 23)
Day 23 (Fri. - June 24) - We were out all day and the kids were exhausted by the time we made it home. I was tired as well and ended up doing this in the dark, with only the TV on in the background for light. I was completely surprised when I saw it in the morning, not at all what I remember it looking like the night before.
Day 24 (Sat. - June 25)
Day 25 (Sun. - June 26) - My son's card somehow disappeared! So just mine and my daughters to show for this day.
June's set of index cards are soon coming to a close! Two more months to go!

Index-Card-A-Day {ICAD} #12 - 16
More index cards for you! I know that for the challenge it is supposed to be every day with one day off a week. I also know that if I take advantage of that one day off, I will slack off and maybe take an extra day or two off. So seven days a week for me!
As usual, in each picture the top is mine, bottom-left is my daughter's (6), bottom-right is my son's (8).
Day 12 (Mon. - June 13)
Day 13 (Tues. - June 14)

Index-Card-A-Day {ICAD} #7 - 11
The end of the school year was a busy one, but the kids and I made sure to work on our index cards as often as possible.
On day 7, my daughter was worn out and didn't get around to it. My card is on the left, the right was done by my son.
On day 8, we were out and about all day. I had time to work on one after getting home and putting the kids to bed.
Day 9, finally back on track again. For the rest of the days, mine is on the top, my daughter's are on the bottom-left and my son's are on the bottom-right.
