Wreck This Journal - Part 2

Summer has officially started for this household. Yesterday was my son's last day of school. I have no idea what is in store, but there is no such thing as a dull moment when everyone is together!

It's been hard for me to get online this past week and today I need to make it short, but here are a couple of things that I've done so far to Wreck This Journal.

First of all, I tore up some strips and then taped them back on to the next page that says to staple or tape the page back. The problem I have is that I can't stand seeing so much white paper. And since it's all about wrecking/changing things - I decided to color the strips with watercolor crayons and then brushed water over them. It was so relaxing, almost like being a kid again just coloring and ripping things up!

My next choice was to make a paper chain out of one of the pages. Once again, I wasn't working with plain old white. So I colored the page in (front and back) with watercolor crayons and then brushed the whole thing with water. Since the paper is really thin, I had to wait for it to dry before cutting it all up into little strips.

It reminded me of days long ago as a kid making paper chains . . . well, maybe not too long ago since I still make them when I have a ton of scrap paper laying around!

I don't have pictures of this, but after I was done I ended up stapling the chain back into the page and squishing it so that the book would close. It looks so sad now, but it's a fun little reminder of what I did.

Okay maybe this post wasn't so short! I can't wait to have a moment to see what everyone else has done!

Fabulous banishment of plain old white! I'm also finding that part of the joy comes from that little kid feeling of just cutting and pasting and colouring. Here's to more of that this summer and beyond!

You are a very calming little wrecker :) I think my poor journal needs some peace next weak and I shall follow suit, gently banishing white.

I love that you added color to some of the destroyed pages. I'm loving how everyone is taking this from an original angle. Amazing stuff, huh?

Yes! Adding color sure brightens up the experience! I need to find some time to get some watercolors and start adding some zest to the poorly wrecked pages. I love the colors you chose. :)

Water color crayons look like fun! I like that you are coloring all of your pages. I'm a little bored with the all white pages.
